En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works.

Come meet artists and watch them create magic over three days in September! You can find them all over Mount Holly from September 18-20! It all culminates on the 20th with a reception and “wet paint” sale at the Grand Hall! We hope to see you! Keep checking back to see some recommended locations where artists will be painting. Mount Holly has so much to offer in so many ways.

What is a "Wet Paint" Sale?
A plein air "wet paint" sell is an event where artists sell artworks created outdoors ("en plein air") immediately after painting them, at the conclusion of a paint-out event. This is your opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind painting created in Mount Holly highlighting the beauty of the surrounding landscape or town.

Come early to our Plein Air Reception and hear the music by Jesse DeVelis! He will be playing from 4:30-5:30 and you won’t want to miss hearing him while you stroll around The Grand Hall with your refreshments and take in all of the art that was painted over this three day event!

June Ni is a Charlotte-based visual artist working in watercolor, acrylic, and digital media. Formerly in the tech world, she now creates full-time, blending a thoughtful balance of structure and spontaneity in her work. Her paintings explore themes of memory, nature, and the beauty found in daily life.
