My Story
Born to a father who was a ceramicist for over 30 years and a mother who was Japanese, my art is a juxtaposition of Southern charm and Asian culture. Growing up surrounded by Japanese dolls, paintings, books and various knick-knacks that my mother’s relatives would send to me, I developed a deep appreciation for the far-Eastern aesthetic with its bright and bold colors, shapes and patterns. Growing up in rural North Carolina, I also fell in love with the beauty of the deep south and its rolling rivers, dense forests and wide array of wildlife. Where these two aesthetics intersect is a constant source of inspiration for me in my artistic and personal life. My love of nature is my muse. Flowers, birds and fish are some of my companions and constant subjects. In addition to my paintings, I also dabble in faux stain glass, refurbishing and customization of coffee tables, chairs, and hat boxes. I love to turn every day objects into something unique, combining functionality and personality.
