My Story

Ani is a self-taught artist based in Charlotte, NC, specializing in two-dimensional works. Her artistic journey began with a deep fascination for comic strips and graphic novels that ignited her passion for visual storytelling.

Since 2011, Ani has actively participated in numerous art shows across the Charlotte area, showcasing her work and engaging with the local arts community. Notable exhibitions include solo shows at Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery, the VAPA Center, and Nordstrom in South Park, juried shows at the Charlotte Art League, Mint Hill Arts, and South End Arts, as well as group shows at Hart-Witzen Gallery, Greenhill Center for the Arts, Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery, and various other NC locations.

Ani’s artistic endeavors extend beyond traditional exhibitions and galleries. She is the creative mind behind the web-comic “Tales from a Sketchy Artist” and was a contributor to Inx comic, a quarterly zine showcasing the work of local artists. In 2021, Ani published her first zine titled “Tales from A Sketchy Artist: The COVID Chronicles,” offering a unique perspective on the pandemic’s impact through comics.

Ani is resident artist and board member of Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery. Additionally Ani is involved with several other local organizations including Sisters in Artistic Liberation, Rhizomes with QC Family Tree, and she is the chair of the Visual Arts Ministry at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

In her free time Ani enjoys reading, walks on the greenways and playing pickup volleyball.
