Keep a look out for her and come see her entry in our juried show Saturday at the Grand Hall. 10-3 for viewing / 5-7 for reception and awards. Here’s a little more about her background.
Jennifer Walker was born and raised in Ohio, and has been a painter and lover of biology her whole life. She graduated from Ohio State University with a BS in Medical Illustration, and illustrated surgical atlases and medical journals for several years, before eventually also graduating from nursing school. After many years in the ER, Jennifer retired from nursing and moved to North Carolina to paint full time.
A lover of small towns and diners, and an unabashed fan of Norman Rockwell and Andy Griffith, Jennifer has spent most of her adult life seeking Mayberry. She now lives and paints in and around a small NC village, where she is drawn to the everyday scenes of small towns and farms – the old buildings that have survived the years, small cafes, gardens, farm stands, pine forests and lowland marshes - where she tries to create paintings that emphasize the play of light and shadow. Her work has won numerous awards, and she is a member of Oil Painters of America.
